A GENEROUS gift from an anonymous donor could turn Broadway parish church into a shining beacon this winter.
The minister and churchwardens of St Michael and All Angels church, in Church Street, have applied for planning permission to floodlight parts of the church tower.
"It's such a beautiful building in Broadway and we want to make sure people can enjoy it in the winter evenings when the light fails," the Rev Terry Mason said.
"It's only going to be gentle lighting to pick out the features of the tower, we are not looking to floodlight the whole place up.
"We have been looking to do this for about a year, and it has been made possible by a generous gift from someone who appreciates the church."
The planning application has been submitted to Wychavon Parish Council.
