RENOWNED tenor James Gilchrist is in concert at Charlton Church with pianist Anna Tilbrook to perform Schubert's song cycle Die Schone Mullerin on Saturday, October 8.

The tenor has established himself as one of Britain's most sought-after singers with prestigious performances lined up with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Detroit and San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and at the Wigmore Hall.

"Charlton Church is an intimate chamber music venue," said organiser Charlotte Ooi. "We have been running a series of chamber music concerts and song recitals since 1998 and occasionally larger scale performances such as the St John Passion in 2004 and, hopefully, its first chamber opera in 2006."

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12.50 from the box office on 01386 861139.
