THE popular Jazz in the Foyer series at Evesham Arts Centre continues on with the Duke's Jazz Group.

This celebrated line-up play their own brand of swinging good time music. The line up is: Phil Bawn - alto and tenor saxes and vocals; Phil Baylis, trombone; Clive Skinner, trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals; Pete Crooks, bass guitar, vocals and arrangements; Lyn Thomas, piano and arrangements; Roger Battersea, drums.

They appear on Monday, October 17 at 8pm (£4 at the door).

On Friday, October 7 at 7.30pm, Evesham and District Music Club presents the London Mozart Trio playing a programme of music by Schubert and Tchaikovsky. Non-members are welcome.

On Wednesday, October 12 Evesham and District Fine Art Society holds its regular monthly meeting at 7.30pm. For programme information and membership details ring 01386 821211.

From Thursday, October 13 to Saturday, October 15 the Phoenix Theatre Group presents Bugsy Malone. This production by the youth section of the Phoenix Theatre Group is suitable for a family audience and children of all ages will be especially welcome at the Saturday matinee performance, to share in the fun filled slapstick action with splurge guns and custard pie fights.

The plot is based on the 1980s film Bugsy Malone and centres on two rival New York gangs in the prohibition period.

As with the film, all the parts from gang leaders to clueless policeman are played by children and Paul Williams' musical score includes My Name is Tallulah (sung in the film by a young Jodie Foster), Fat Sam's Grand Slam and So You Wanna Be a Boxer.
