WYRE Forest residents are being given the opportunity to turn their attic clutter into cash while raising funds for Operation Covert.
That is because leading auction house, Halls Fine Art, which has offices in Kidderminster and Shrewsbury, is holding its version of the Antiques Roadshow at Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday, November 3.
The event, which will run from 10am until 3pm, will see a number of experts, specialising in furniture, ceramics and jewellery, examine people's family heirlooms and treasured items.
A charge of £1.50 will be made for each item valued and all proceeds will go to Operation Covert.
The event is also being staged as part of the town hall's 150th anniversary celebrations.
Halls fine art director, Jeremy Lamond, who has been featured on the television shows, Flog It, Cash in the Attic and Going, Going, Gone, said the company was pleased to lend its support to such a worthy cause.
He urged Shuttle/Times & News readers to turn out in force to support the event, saying it was an ideal opportunity for people to clear out their attics while giving Operation Covert a boost.
"This valuation day is a great opportunity for people to come and show us their family heirlooms, paintings, pottery and silver," he said.
"If they have items that are too big to bring along on the day they can simply show us photographs or we will be happy to arrange home visits after the event, at no additional charge."
He added the company regularly held charity valuation days and such events often saw items that people had been ready to throw away valued at £600 or £800.
"People could be sitting on something that would provide them a good winter sun holiday and this is their chance to find out," he said.
