WHAT Mr Swiers is detecting is not anti-American feeling in Britain - it's justified concern for the poor of New Orleans and criticism of the American Government.

It's time ordinary people in America and Britain stood up for themselves and demanded an end to cuts in public services, ruinous warmongering by their governments, and the Alice in Wonderland free market economics that is exporting jobs to the Third World as fast as we are importing wage slaves into Britain.

If our politicians are so besotted with free markets, then let's introduce one in politicians, and get some lean, keen and eager-to-please ones (on five pounds an hour) from China or Eastern Europe - the sort who will do what we "customers" want for a very refreshing change.

They could start by burning wheelie bins, cleaning our disgusting streets and 'discouraging' the foul-mouthed bullies who control our city centre from their base at Maggs Day Centre. Oh, and because our troops are wasting their time in Iraq - it never was a nation and never will be one - let's bring them back and get them to patrol Tolladine and other Wild West flashpoints in this city. That would really save taxpayers' money!
