VOICES will be raised in tuneful celebration at a special event in Pershore Abbey as part of a global fundraiser.
The event will celebrate the first ever world hospice and palliative care day which is dedicated to increasing awareness of the work hospices and raising urgently needed funds to ensure the care they give continues.
The occasion is a Come and Sing, Haydn's Creation this Saturday at 7.30pm and will raise money for St Richard's Hospice. The conductor is Andrew Wilson, director of music at Royal Grammar School, Worcester and organist and choirmaster at Malvern Priory. Soloists Jason Darnell, tenor Glenville Hargreaves, bass player Yvonne Seymour and soprano and organist Peter Seymour will be performing.
Singers who have some knowledge of the piece are invited to come and join in the event bringing their own copy of music if they have one. The performance will start at 7.30pm and singers must register no later than 2pm for a 2.30pm rehearsal in the Abbey. Event organiser John Gosney said: "We hope that many people will come along to this lovely Abbey and either sing or be part of the appreciative audience to help make this a very special event."
Singers and musicians are asked to make a minimum donation of £5 each. Contact John Gosney on 01386 553292 for more information.
