A VALE mother and baby group have found a sure fire way of increasing numbers in the village as four of the organising committee are expecting their second child.

The four mothers, Anna Walker, Sarah Powell, Suzanne Rendall and Nicola Brealey are all expecting a second baby between January and March.

They are committee members of the Eckington baby and toddler group. Now the women are organising a baby sale and are appealing to parents to donate any unwanted baby equipment, clean toys and books. The sale is to be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 1 at the Eckington village hall.

"We didn't plan it that way," said Mrs Brealey, chairman of the group, "But one day we all came in bursting with news to tell each other. Now it seems logical to organise a sale of baby equipment, if only to pick up some bargains ourselves."

The club run by the four mothers every Tuesday at 10am and require money to keep going and are hoping the sale will attract many customers with all proceeds going to the mother and baby group.

"We're providing the babies to come tot he meetings but we still need funds just to cover the running costs each week." said Mrs Walker.
