BIDFORD villagers are losing the battle against vandalism as CCTV cameras are failing to provide security to residents.
District councillors for the Bidford ward, Daren Pemberton, Kym James and Brian Slaughter asked the council for their views on the quality of the cameras installed on the High Street at Bidford.
The CCTV cameras installed 12 months ago as a measure to protect the village from vandalism is failing with the increase in complaints made by residents.
Chairwoman for Bidford parish council, Joy Keeley said: "As a parish councillor I will say this much - the cameras are useless you cannot prosecute anyone from them. It's been proved time and time again that we cannot prosecute anyone because we have not been able to get a clear image."
District Cllr Pemberton reassured the council that although any issues surrounding the quality of images the system was a Home Office approved one and they have are working with the director of operational services from Stratford to stamp out any problems with images.
The chairwoman added that although the cameras had been dug up and fitted with new wiring the system was still not very good.
"Not one person has been prosecuted with through the aid of the cameras they have been dug up again and again and the problems remains."
The district councillors are to meet with the director of operational service in an attempt to pick out any problems with the system in the near future.
