A VALE WOMAN is set to begin training for the ordained ministry at a college in Birmingham.

Pippa Challenger is a member of St Matthew's church in Salford Priors and works with children and young people. She recently began the popular Tuesday Tots service for young mums and their children.

Mrs Challenger will be travelling to Queen's College in Birmingham for her studies in Theology, Ethics and New Testament Greek. She hopes to be ordained in two years time.

Mrs Challenger said: "I decided to begin thinking of ordination some eleven years ago and now seems the right time."

She hugely values the support of her husband Mike and her three children, Tom, Guy and Imogen.

The vicar of St Matthew's, Steve Tash said: "Pippa is a very gifted person, good with all ages and has been an important person in many person's lives. She has been instrumental in many people growing in faith in God. The church has now recognised the gifts God has given her and it is very good news for the Church that it is going to authorise her ministry."
