A 16-year-old boy needed 25 stitches after a glass was pushed into his face in a vicious attack in a Kidderminster nightclub.
The attack happened in the early hours of Wednesday last week in Mirage in Dixon Street and has resulted in the police issuing an appeal for information this week.
DC Peter Isanga, of Wyre Forest CID, said it was "vitally important" police discovered the identity of those involved and urged anyone with information to get in touch.
"This is a serious assault which left the victim in a very poor state," he said. "He was badly bruised and had three major cuts to his face which needed a total of 25 stitches."
He added: "We know the victim was approached by a group of six or seven men that night in the club and that an argument followed, with intervention from door staff.
"A while later, fighting broke out between this group and a second group.
"On seeing this, the victim hurried back to two female friends standing nearby and, as he did so, was seriously assaulted by one man from the first group who pushed a glass in his face."
The main offender was described as a black male, aged 25 to 26, about 6ft 1in with a bulky build.
He was wearing a bright red tracksuit top with a green crocodile motif on the left breast and matching bright red tracksuit bottoms. He might also have been wearing a baseball cap.
A second man from the group, who was the first to approach the victim, was described as a 26-year-old black man, who was 5ft 11ins with a medium to stocky build.
His head was described as shaved all over with patterned circles on the left-hand side round to the back. He was wearing a black top with dark grey patterns and black jeans.
A third man from the group, who was reported to have thrown a drink over another person in the club, was described as black and dressed in black.
A fourth man, who was alleged to have pulled a member of staff away when the argument first broke out, was said to be black, with a large build.
He was described as 26 to 27, 6ft 2ins to 6ft 3ins, with no hair, and was wearing a light grey tracksuit.
DC Isanga added: "We do have quite detailed descriptions of those involved in the incident and are appealing for anyone who was in Mirage that night and can give us names and further information to get in touch.
"We would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information, no matter how small, which may help to forward our inquiries."
