TRAVEL agency staff in Kidderminster have signed up to a campaign to promote sustainable tourism.
Co-op Travel is encouraging its 6,000 employees nationally to back the Travel Foundation charity's drive to help reduce holidaymakers' impact on the culture and environment of their destinations.
The six-point pledge includes using water sparingly, supporting local businesses and avoiding buying environmentally damaging souvenirs.
Kidderminster branch manager, Geoff Hurmson, said: "Looking after destinations for future generations is an important issue for anyone who loves travelling but we can't expect holidaymakers to take this issue seriously unless we do ourselves.
"It is estimated that there are nearly 800 million holidays taken across the world each year and these can have a tremendous impact on destinations, whether it's Costa Rica or the Costa del Sol."
