A JUICY proposition is being made to fruit tree owners in Worcestershire - they can have their apples and pears turned into the raw material for cider and perry free.

The offer comes from

bosses of the County Museum at Hartlebury Castle, which is holding its annual cider and perry demonstrations using traditional equipment on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16.

Robin Hill, county museums officer, said: "We make cider and perry every year using traditional implements, some of which we have restored ourselves. If people have cider apples or perry pears in their garden we are offering a free

juice-making service."

The fruit suppliers can then take away the juice in containers and let it ferment into cider and perry - ready for drinking in January.

The pressing will be done by cider makers Harry Bray and Ted Jones.

Anyone wishing to use the service should contact Mr Hill on 01299 250416 to book a slot for the presses. The museum service can also help people find out if they have the right variety of fruit.
