A PAIR of Coughton landlords are searching for tenants to rent their field as a cricket pitch after they won planning permission for the exciting project.
And as reported in The Chronicle last Wednesday, the brothers are now hoping to find people to rent the ground.
Nigel Staley said they were searching for a club, group of people or individual to take on a lease for a minimum of ten years, at a rate of £1 a year.
"We own the ground, we've got the planning permission and aim to lease it out," he said.
"But whoever we find will have to come up with roughly half the cost of development - that's why the rent is so cheap, because they would be putting in half the money up front."
He said they had no costs for the project yet, but if they found someone interested they could take the next step in finding costs for the work, which would include levelling the field, replacing the topsoil, and creating a square to provide four or five wickets.
They also need to install drainage, re-seed the grass and bury overhead power lines.
Mr Staley said whoever took on the lease would be responsible for maintaining and running the ground.
He added: "We are not looking to make money off the pitch.
"The most important thing is the people we find are committed to looking after it, not just to playing cricket but to maintaining it.
"I want first crack of the whip to go to local people, so it will be part of the community."
