DROITWICH first team captain Paul Atkinson believes his side should go for promotion in the Coaching Solutions Premier Division this season.
Atkinson believes an aggressive attitude is the best policy for his newly promoted side.
He said: "If we were to finish just outside the relegation zone and stayed up it wouldn't be a bad season, but I wouldn't be happy with it.
"We can't afford to say just staying up is our goal. It's too negative an attitude.
"I believe with the teams we are up against we should be thinking about a top half of the table finish and even promotion."
Droitwich start the season on October 8 when they entertain Solihull Blossomfield.
Spa has enjoyed an eventful pre-season so far, two wins and a defeat.
Droitwich had defeated Kingsheath 4-2 and Pershore 3-1, but they crashed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hereford.
Atkinson said: "Our preparations have gone well so far.
"The Hereford game was a wake up call and we will be better for it.
"But before that we had been playing well."
Droitwich also enjoyed a good campaign in the Summer League, winning seven of their ten matches.
Spa play East Midlands Premier Division side Coventry Jaguars on Saturday in their final pre-season match.
Atkinson will have two more players at his disposal for the coming season.
Teenager Craig Hunt is set for a regular place in the first team after several promising performances at the end of last season. Ian Fox is also set to make an impact in the team after joining in the summer.
Droitwich failed to take their chances on Saturday, as Old Sils held them to a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly.
Nick Adams levelled the scores from a short corner, Spa were left ruing a host of missed scoring opportunities.
Captain Paul Atkinson said: "There were a lot of pleasing aspects to our play.
"But we should have scored more than one goal. We had about 15 short corners, but we only scored from one."
Droitwich entertain Warwick at home tonight (Wednesday) in a mid-week friendly derby.
