THANK you to everyone involved in the Open Day held at the Artrix on September 17.
What a spectacular display of talent including drummers, jugglers, clowns on stilts, belly dancing, communal collage making...and even a visit from Darth Vader and his stormtroopers.
This was all happening in the foyer, the ideal meeting place, with Tamar Whyte's attractive artwork acting as an excellent backdrop.
The Artrix is now alive and well and living in north Bromsgrove. It's right next to NEW College and has a large free car park so you can't miss it and you can't complain that there's nowhere to park and it's too expensive.
Having followed the progress of this new venue for the arts from first idea to realisation I have to say that it exceeds all my expectations. Once the garden is improved (and the roundabout on the A38 needs some attention too) and a little more furniture is purchased - coffee tables are needed for the foyer - we shall have a very comfortable meeting place, a venue for classical and pop concerts, plays and musicals.
When it first began we were looking seriously at converting the old Drill Hall on Recreation Road, and I am so pleased that the council waited until they could build what we now have - a first class arts venue for everyone in our town to enjoy and participate in.
I would urge everyone who hasn't got a diary of events to pick one up at the booking office or town library and to come along and enjoy the Artrix.
