n HEY, what's going on here? A few months ago (Friday, June 24) Rebecca Fisher wrote an article in the Worcester News about The Northwick Arms "going through the mill" to get their new pub licence.
Then your opinion writer slated all the pubs over several different issues, saying "the council's decision to allow a limited extension to the pub's opening hours was a wrong one."
Then, in last night's Worcester News, following the licensing application from The Crown & Sandys Arms of Ombersley, you say the pub applications are "all rosy" and a good thing. On what fence is the editor sitting?
Now we are asked to "raise your glasses" to the owner of The Crown & Sandys Arms. Maybe your opinion writer drinks in The Crown & Sandys Arms.
How come two months ago you were running down the pub's new application for new licences, and now they can't do any wrong? I wonder if the editor has ever had a pint in The Northwick Arms? You should support all publicans.
CHRIS WATTS,
The Albion Inn,
Worcester.
We judge each case on its merits, Mr Watts. And as for your last point, surely you must know that journalists' support for publicans is legendary. Letters Editor.
