THE September meeting was held at Betty Gibbs' house due to the village hall being closed for floor maintenance.
There was a good attendance and president Betty Wolsey welcomed members plus one visitor.
Our speaker, Veronica Collette, was promptly introduced to give an account of her six years spent working in Saudi Arabia, with its many restrictions on public freedom. A typical Arabian cloak and headdress was on display, together with other cloth items, jewellery, beauty aids and coffee making utensils. Veronica was thanked for a very interesting presentation.
A tea party followed, to commemorate 90 years of the WI, with food having been prepared by the members. Our visitor took group photographs.
Those members who went on the August outing to Stratford-upon-Avon had an enjoyable sunny day with a picnic by the rose garden. They also saw the bench made in remembrance of late member Audrey Bryant, which had been placed so that it overlooked the river.
Future plans were discussed. Doreen Andrews won the raffle and Nancy Davis won the competition for the oldest map with her map of Feckenham. The next meeting will be held on October 6 at Stoke Prior Village Hall. There is to be a harvest lunch starting at 12 noon followed by the meeting starting at 2pm. The competition will be for the best last rose of summer and there is to be a presentation by the Air Ambulance people.
