LICKEY Hills Primary School pupils wined and dined over politics, when they held a democracy dinner.

The year six students at the school in Old Birmingham Road donned their collars and ties and evening dresses as they sat down for a four-course meal, before the hard political talk started.

In between each course the pupils debated issues such as the voting age, teaching in school about politics and democracy, standing for election and support for campaigns such as Make Poverty History.

The dinner was arranged by the Hanson Society, which encourages young people to get involved in politics, and supported last year's mock elections in which Lickey Hills also took part.

Around 60 pupils took part in the dinner, with year five students acting as waiters and waitresses.
