PUPILS at Bromsgrove School kicked off the new term in style when their new £2.25 million humanities block was unveiled.

Built by Midlands building contractor Chase Norton Construction, the building boasts 20 new classrooms, an IT suite and new staff offices.

It also includes special features such as a zinc roof, under-floor heating and double-glazed windows with integral blinds. The project was completed six weeks early, taking 52 weeks to build.

Headmaster Chris Edwards said: "Built to a high specification, the new humanities block is a good example of how the school recognises the strong link between the pupils' working environment and their productivity.

"We are delighted with the new building and are grateful to Chase Norton, which not only completed the project six weeks early, but went out of its way to accommodate the staff and children to ensure that minimal disruption was caused during term time."

Stewart Reynolds, contracts manager at the building firm, said: "Chase Norton has extensive experience in the education sector and we always enjoy these projects because of the value they bring to children, staff and parents alike.

"The new block was built to a very high quality finish, which should provide an optimal working environment for the staff and children of Bromsgrove School."
