CONCERN is growing in Droitwich about the number of boy-racers using the Waitrose car park to gather at night.
Large numbers of youths have been seen using the site to show off their cars and drive at high speeds.
The dangerous and noisy activity has apparently left several visitors to the area intimidated and scared.
People concerned and worried by the behaviour of the groups include visitors who come into the town at night to socialise and regulars at the Norbury Theatre, in Friar Street.
A concerned resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "It is very intimidating, especially when it is dark at night when you come out of the theatre.
"It is not just the car parks though, it seems as though boy-racers are on the up in the town. You see them everywhere speeding around and playing overly load music. I think it could be very off- putting for people coming to the town at night."
Another resident, Mark Heel, added: "I think the noise is the main problem, it would definitely keep nearby residents awake."
A spokesman for Droitwich police said: "We have not been made aware of any recent incidents on or near the Waitrose car park. If we are, they will be dealt with accordingly.
"We have the power to confiscate vehicles that are used in this way, as a number of young drivers have already been made aware during earlier incidents."
