STOKE Prior rider Pete Banham raced to victory in the second round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League at Halesowen Cycling and Athletics Club on Sunday.

Banham, riding for Wyre Forest CC, led the race for juniors, veterans and women from the start of the course at Clows Top and finished three minutes ahead of the field.

Victory completed a fine season for Banham, who finished as the top junior rider in the Dragon MTB XC series. In the final race of the series Banham was the first junior to finish and came fifth overall.

Bromsgrove's Joe Rowe overcame two punctures to win the grand veteran category in Halesowen and finished 15th overall.

Wyre Forest teammate Ruth Blacker was 42nd, while Mick Gray came 48th. In the seniors race Phil Blacker finished third, Elliott Dinsdale was ninth, Dan Harding 11th and Matt Ashcroft finished 14th.

In the Severn RC 50 mile time trial Gary Bartran finished in two hours, 12 minutes and seven seconds, while Karl Davies finished in 2hrs and 19.22mins.

Kris Doms finished third in the Veterans Time Trial Association's National Championships at Princethorpe in his age group and came tenth overall in a one hundred strong field.

Dave Wood finished the Welsh VTTA 25 mile time trial in Monmouth in 57.14mins.
