WACKY and wonderful scarecrows will be invading Feckenham this Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can take the scarecrow trail and spot the array of colourful straw characters displayed around the village.

Maps are available from The Square marking out where all the scarecrows will be from 11am.

All straw figures, the handiwork of creative villagers, will be visible from the road or street as they stand to attention in porches or front gardens.

The event will be the first scarecrow festival hosted by the village and is being organised by the Feckenham Entertainment Committee.

Committee chairman Ian Bellion said: "As summer becomes a memory and autumn really starts to get a grip, Feckenham folk are taking the chance to do something cheering, inventive and, let's be honest, a bit daft.

"This event is just for a bit of fun, it's not in aid of anything and there's no charge. Sometimes it is just good to do something because it's enjoyable.

"We simply want Feckenham overrun by the most spectacular army of weird, wild, wacky and wonderful scarecrows the world has ever seen!"

At around 3pm on Sunday, Feckenham's vicar will be taking part in a helicopter treasure hunt in aid of charity and will arrive at the Village Green just before the prizes are handed out there for the best scarecrows.

There will also be a display from a troupe of Scarecrow Dancers.

St John's Church will be serving refreshments.
