I AM a born and bred Redditch woman of 36 with two sons who attend local middle school.

I live in Greenlands and often take my children and our dog to the south Redditch sports field on Throckmorton Road.

There are often a group of teenagers who insist on riding a scrambler bike, unlicensed and with no helmets, at great speed across the field.

The field also leads to a wood area which leads onto another field which is concealed from the road but can be seen from Greenlands Drive opposite the ''new build'' apartments on the old Megabowl site.

In the last month, my dog has almost been knocked over and my one son had to narrowly avoid this motorbike knocking him off his bicycle.

I phoned the police and decided to wait until they arrived.

About 25 minutes later, a police car was seen coming from Greenlands Drive into Throckmorton Road.

We flagged the car down from the field but it turned around in Milcote Close and headed back out of Throckmorton Road.

I phoned the police again and clearly gave the operator directions.

We waited another 30 minutes but the police never came back.

As it was getting dark, we headed home.

The following day on the main field, a man aged about 35 was allowing a queue of children to have a go on his quad bike, with no helmets and no plates.

The children were as young as six or seven.

In turn, they raced around the field not giving a thought to petrified dogs and children.

Again the police were called and did not arrive.

Yesterday, while walking my dog with my children, the same bunch of teenage boys and girls were taking it in turns to ride around the narrow paths on the estate between Wishaw Close and Ladygrove Close and then back onto the field, again without helmets and going at great speed.

About a month ago, the Advertiser had an article asking people to report such incidents.

I even gave the police the name of one of the youngsters who is known in the area and I believe has received an ASBO.

In future, I won't bother to call as nothing is done.

I appreciate the police are busy and have more urgent cases to attend to. I just hope one of them will not be called to attend to an injured person or animal.
