MOTORISTS in the two counties are being advised to take extra care on the roads this autumn.
It comes as motor insurer esure.com reveals that car accidents are 10 per cent more likely during the autumn than in the summer.
The company has said autumnal conditions, such as wet roads, reduced visibility, darker days and low sun can all be hazardous to drivers.
And to help motorists adjust, it has devised a list of top tips to help people steer clear of accidents.
They include leaving more time to break on wet surfaces, remembering to use dipped headlights and reduce your speed on foggy mornings and keeping a pair of sunglasses in the car to tackle the low autumn sun.
They also suggest motorists check their lights are clean and undamaged and ensure the tyres, brakes, wipers, heaters and de-misters are all in excellent order.
