WALES flanker Colin Charvis hopes to make up for lost time when Newcastle host Worcester in the Zurich Premiership tomorrow.
Charvis missed the entire RBS 6 Nations after sustaining a foot injury while on Heineken Cup duty against Newport Gwent Dragons three months ago but has been given a late chance to impress British Lions selectors.
Sir Clive Woodward names his 44-strong party to tour New Zealand on Monday, allowing Charvis to use the Warriors clash at Kingston Park tomorrow to confirm his spell on the sidelines is over.
"It was enormously frustrating being out of the side and away from training when I was just starting to get more involved, but I'm hungry to return and can't wait to run out tomorrow," said the Falcons back row.
"Watching the matches as a spectator wasn't easy, but I'm determined to come back strong and contribute as much as I can in what is left of the season to help us qualify for the Heineken Cup again."
England World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson has not been so lucky, however, and he will sit out the Worcester showdown after failing to complete his recovery from medial knee ligament damage.
Dave Walder continues at fly-half in Wilkinson's absence, while Charvis replaces Mike McCarthy for a match which is sure to stretch Newcastle to the limit.
"Worcester are a massive threat and for their first season in the Premiership they have been superb," said Andrew.
"They have really come to terms with the top-flight, targeted games through the international period that they could win, and will be fighting tooth and nail to take the chance that they have given themselves of staying in this league.
"We have to roll our sleeves up and match them physically, so having Charvis and Luke Gross in the pack will help that somewhat."
Worcester were thrashed 30-9 by Newcastle at Sixways in their first ever match in the Premiership seven months ago, but head coach Andy Keast insists his side have come on leaps and bounds since.
"The Newcastle game will give us another chance to see just how far we've come from that opening-day defeat," he said.
The Warriors are without injured lock Tim Collier and prop Lee Fortey, so Phil Murphy and Neil Lyman come in.
