ANDY Gomarsall is hoping the move to Sixways will reignite his England career.
The scrum-half, who has slid down the international pecking order under Andy Robinson, believes his move to Worcester will give him that extra spark to put him back on the world stage.
Gomarsall has previously worked alongside Sixways coaches John Brain and Andy Keast at Kingsholm and is in no doubt just what an effect they can have on a club.
"In my opinion, when Andy Keast first came to Gloucester, he saved the club," said Gomarsall.
"We were rapidly spiralling down the league table and, when he arrived, we started winning games again.
"It was no coincidence that it was his coaching that brought the young guys on and made the experienced players better ones. He's an exceptional coach and I'm looking forward to getting back to work with him.
"His ideas on the style of play he wants next season excited me and that's why I'm at Worcester.
"You also have to be impressed with the way the pack has performed this season in the Premiership. Everybody has noticed Worcester's forwards and it doesn't surprise me because I know what John Brain can do. I'm certainly looking forward to playing with that pack!"
And Gomarsall has a clear message for England's present nines Harry Ellis and Matt Dawson.
"This move has come at the right time of my career," he said. "I played the Autumn internationals but wasn't involved in the Six Nations. I've slipped down the pecking order but I firmly want to be number one again.
"For next year, this is exactly the decision I needed in order to revitalise my England career. If I can get on the summer tour to Canada, then hopefully I can start the process then but I know that next season is going to be a real cracker at Worcester.
"I believe I can get that England place back and Worcester have given me a great stage to do that."
Gomarsall, who will be at Sixways today to watch Worcester take on Leeds in the European Shield semi-final, cannot wait to start his Warriors career after five successful years at Kingsholm.
"There will be new players coming into Worcester for next season," he added. "But the core of the squad has done fantastically well this season in the Premiership. You hope as a new player coming in that you will enhance the team.
"My whole aim in a game is to make sure the back line is functioning well and they are getting quick ball.
"That's where I get my buzz and, hopefully, the boys out wide will have more time and space with the ball.
"There is some great talent in the Worcester squad and people like James Brown have come on leaps and bounds this season.
"I'm very excited about the move and getting in amongst it."
