WHEN Worcester talk of their supporter base, they probably don't realise that it spreads as far as Brazil!

For two years now, Maria Ceclia lvares -- a 46-year-old Brazilian -- has been hooked on Sixways action.

The psychologist, who lives in Belo Horizonte, made her first trip to Sixways in August 2003 to see Worcester beat Wasps in a pre-season friendly and the love affair was born.

"I was taken to Sixways during my first ever trip to Europe two years ago," she said.

"I watched my first rugby match there and it was a wonderful feeling to be there and see my friends enjoying the game.

"The laws of rugby were a complete mystery for me and still are! Hopefully, I will get there, eventually.

"Every time I have an opportunity to visit Europe, I am there at Sixways. I have also been to Wales and Ireland to watch the Warriors play. They became the team of my heart.

"When in Brazil I follow the news through the supporters' website and always, if possible, listen to the live commentary. Last year, I joined the supporters' club and I think I must be the furthest away supporter in the club."

Brazilian rugby is still, because of the football-mad public, a minority sport but Maria feels things are moving in the right direction.

"Rugby is not a very well-known sport there," she added.

"The passion of Brazilians still is soccer but recently I discovered that rugby fans are increasing, mainly in our universities and colleges.

"Also, we have a Brazilian Association of Rugby with 20 teams playing regularly in championships in Brazil and in South America."

n The next Worcester Warriors Supporters Club social evening is on Wednesday at Sixways.

Everyone is welcome to come and hear Graham Price, the legendary Welsh prop, share some memories and thoughts about the game of rugby.

Price played for Pontypool, earned 41 caps for Wales between 1975 and 1979 and played in three British Lions tours. He will be joined by Dan Zaltzman (Worcester's Community Liaison Officer and former Sixways lock) and Steve Lloyd (player-coach of Worcester Wanderers).

The evening begins at 7.30pm, with buffet at 9pm. Entrance is £5 (or £2 for WWSC members).

n If you can't get to any of the Warriors matches, you don't need to miss out on the action completely.

Re-runs of home and away games can be viewed the following Wednesday evening at the Great Western Hotel, opposite Shrub Hill station in Worcester. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
