JAMES Brown has been given the all-clear after his concussion scare.

Worcester's fly-half was ruled out of Saturday's 16-6 victory over London Irish because the Warriors were awaiting test results after a bang to the head in last Monday's 50-7 defeat at Leicester.

The Sixways club were hoping to get the results through before Saturday's Premiership clash but ultimately, because they didn't materialise, Tommy Hayes stepped into the number 10 shirt against the Irish.

"James is clear to play on," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain.

"Obviously, we would have liked to have had the results before kick-off on Saturday but that wasn't to be. Ultimately, I thought Tommy Hayes did well. He probably had his best game for us in terms of his kicking out of hand."

Meanwhile, Matt Powell believes Worcester can last the Premiership pace.

The Warriors' scrum-half, who inspired his side to the Irish victory, believes the Sixways club can beat the drop this season.

"We must win our home games and if we can pick up another couple of away wins then I'm sure we'll be fine," he said.

"We've got Gloucester and Leeds coming up so there are some big games ahead.

"Everyone believes that we can stay up and we're confident that we can beat teams that have to come to Sixways. If we do that, we'll stay up. If we can continue the form we've shown against Wasps, Harlequins and now London Irish there's no reason why we shouldn't stay up."

And the former Harlequins man paid tribute to the Sixways supporters who turned up the volume at the weekend.

"The atmosphere was awesome," he said.

"The home games we've had here have all been amazing.

"The atmosphere against Harlequins and the Friday night game with Wasps was brilliant," said Powell. "We're really building something here."
