WORCESTER will not be following up their interest in Mike Pyke.
The 20-year-old Canadian international played a trial match for the Warriors' 'A' team at Sale on Monday night but has failed to impress sufficiently for Worcester to make a permanent move.
The winger has returned to Edinburgh -- where he is on a rolling contract -- and won't be making a Sixways switch.
"He did OK," said Worcester's head coach Andy Keast. "However, we won't be following up our interest in him."
The Premiership side are on the look-out for a new winger after Jon Hylton's cruciate ligament injury which will rule him out for six months.
Meanwhile, Worcester's director of rugby John Brain has hit out at suggestions that his side will 'do a Rotherham' and fall through the relegation trap door this season. Press reaction to the Warriors' 30-9 defeat by Newcastle was damning in parts, suggesting that Worcester will follow the disappointing trend set by promoted clubs and go straight back down.
"I think that sort of reaction just makes you more determined to prove everybody wrong. There were enough positives about Sunday's game to take out and build upon."
