A HANDFUL of Worcestershire's younger squad members are poised to make their first-team bow tomorrow.
The County begin a three-day university fixture against Loughborough UCCE, being held at Kidderminster CC, on Chester Road North, and several rookies are in line to start.
Batsman Daryl Mitchell, 21, who has opened for Worcestershire's second XI, and left-arm medium pace bowler Stuart Wedge, 19, are among those looking to make their debut.
Other likely starters include teenage wicketkeeper Steve Davies and off-break bowler Shaftab Khalid.
Worcestershire director of cricket Tom Moody said: "We will be making a few changes for the university match. We have a championship match against Derbyshire at New Road on Wednesday, so this is an opportunity for a couple of young players.
"This is seen as an official first-class fixture, so some of the lads will be making their first-class debut. It's a good opportunity for them."
Play starts each day at 11am and free admission with free car parking is available for WCCC members.
