WORCESTER'S past is set to be unearthed as an expert comes to the city to give a talk on the recent archaeological works there.
James Dinn of Worcester Archaeological Services will be focusing on the city's digs, which have included works in Newport Street that have has unearthed evidence the area was a bustling home to cloth traders and merchants in the 16th and 17th Centuries.
Amateur archaeologists have also joined experts from Worcester City Council to excavate areas in the garden of the Commandery. Some of the most significant discoveries there have been tobacco pipes and a Nuremberg coin from Germany dating from the 16th or 17th Century.
The archaeological talk is being organised by at Birmingham & Midland Society for Genealogy & Heraldry's Worcester branch and is being held on Friday, October 14, at the Baptist Church Hall in Sansome Walk at 7.30pm.
