This year's annual trip to Weston-super-Mare by some members of Staunton and District Over 60s Club was a little bit different, with some grandchildren going along to enjoy a lovely day out. A small group of 19 members also spent a five day break at the popular seaside resort, unfortunately returning home on the day of the torrential rain storm. The club have also visited Bloom's Garden Centre at Haresfield near Gloucester and found the large centre very worthwhile to visit. A trip to Merryhill Shopping Centre will take place in October and in November arrangements are being made to visit a Christmas market, probably in Birmingham. Looking ahead, there will be a visit to Cardiff to see Diamonds Holiday on Ice.

Prospective new members can see what a varied programme the club have, which also includes many good speakers during the year. Nanette Bevan, club leader, invites anyone, men or women over 59 years of age, to join them at their fortnightly meetings held in the lounge at Johnstone Close Flats, Staunton. Ring (01452) 840640 if you would like to become a member so this lively club.

Staunton Church get-together coffee morning in September was well attended and everyone seemed very pleased to meet again after the summer break. It was a very jolly affair and the table was full of seasonal things to buy, with damsons, apples, flowers, home-baked cakes etc.
