AFTER only the third week in Thesoccersite.co.uk Malvern League only two teams have 100 per cent records, Bell Inn 98 and Fromes Hill, but both have played fewer games than their counterparts.

Bell Inn 98 have only played twice and Fromes Hill only the one game and both sides have yet to meet an opponent from the top half of the table.

This should lead to a very competitive season, unlike over the last few seasons when two sides have basically dominated the title race.

Dynamo Ledbury began the day as league leaders when they entertained Keyz 04, but any thoughts they had of staying top disappeared when their visitors came out on top by 4-2. The game began fairly evenly but the first signs of trouble for the home side came as early as the sixth minute, when following a flowing move they were grateful to keeper Mark Davies, who pulled off a fine save from a header. He was well beaten a minute later by a shot on the run from Andy Lancett, only to breathe a sigh of relief when the ball crashed against the crossbar and bounced clear. Dynamo Ledbury took the lead in their first real attack in the ninth minute when, following a free-kick on the edge of the area, Keyz 04 failed to clear and eventually Peter Powell managed to put the ball in the net.

Keyz 04 equalised in the 14th minute when Dynamo's Richard Punt put the ball over his own keeper's head for an own goal. Then came a purple patch for the visitors and they notched up a further three goals in 18 minutes. The first came in the 18th minute when Nick Lancett headed a long throw by Andy Lancett on and Alex Peck stole in to powerfully head the ball home.

In the 26th minute, following a well-worked free-kick, Andy Lancett drilled the ball home from 12 yards. With Tom Holland in fine form in midfield and Andy Lancett a constant menace Keyz looked much the better side as Dynamo struggled to find their form and it became 4-1 in the 32nd minute. Following a corner the home defence again failed to defend well and Rob Kelly smashed the ball home from the edge of the area. Thanks to a couple of good saves from Mark Davies from the ever-dangerous Andy Lancett, Dynamo managed to keep Keyz 04 from scoring again in the first half.

The second-half saw Keyz 04 sit back and with Andy Lancett having to switch to full back they were much less of an attacking force. But even so, Dynamo were grateful again to keeper Davies, who made some good saves whilst at the other end keeper Steve Newman also made a couple of good saves. Dynamo's Mitch Preedy went close with a fine curling shot and Peter Powell should have scored when he had a free header from close range, but his effort went wide.

When Dynamo did pull a goal back in the 87th minute it was from the penalty spot and Martin Punt no mistake.

Morgan Aero 8 dropped their first points when they were held 2-2 at home to Belmont Keys. Morgan took the lead straight from the kick-off through Matt Ilsley. Goals from Rob Jones and Dave Perera gave Belmont the lead, only for Matt Ilsley to notch up his second for the equaliser.

Cross Keys went top following a comfortable 7-0 victory over Ganglands whose high-scoring came to an abrupt end. Cross Keys goals came from Andy Hurrell, Mark Taylor, Andy Fletcher, Adam Derrington and an Ollie Endacott hat-trick.

Oak Allstars moved into second spot with a 9-0 victory over neighbours Oak Misfits with goals from Neil Gardiner, Anthony Bradford, James Gladwin, two from Jamie Welch and four more from James Dean.

Bell Inn 98 beat Oak Academy 2-1 with goals from Ashley Jones and Chris Grubb with Academy's reply coming from Dean Kibble.

Ledbury Rangers won 3-1 at Keys Victoria with goals from Blackie Smith, Terry Bramley and Karl Lancett, with the only reply coming from Dan Stone.

In the Worcester Infirmary Cup things looked bad for Talbot Head at home to Bromsgrove General Reserves as early as the 12th minute when James Rimell was sent off for handling the ball on the line. However, the man-of-the-match, Talbot goalkeeper Nick Rogers, pulled off a superb save from the resultant penalty and with a series of other saves saw the 10 men play out a 0-0 draw after extra time.

Rogers then excelled again in the resultant penalty shoot-out, saving twice to see it at 3-3 after the first five penalties. When he then saved the next Bromsgrove penalty, John Patterson stepped up to calmly convert his kick and put Talbot through to the next round.

In the same competition Fromes Hill visited Phoenix and found their higher-graded opponents too good and went out losing 1-10.

Would all secretaries and managers please note that the results this Sunday (September 25), should be phoned through to David Wise on 01684 310561 as the secretary will be away.
