A FOURTH straight defeat leaves Anchor Falcons rooted at the bottom of Worcester Sunday League division two table as their poor start continued at Dyson Perrins on Sunday.

They desperately need a slice of good fortune to get their season up and running.

A leg injury to John Goode opened the way for Will Hale to regain his midfield birth after an injury, whilst Alan Evans replaced Rich Lambert. The game started at high tempo, both sides willing to run with the ball, and it was a tight affair until the mid-point of the first period when Marcus Henney pulled off brilliant save, only to see the rebound converted from 12 yards.

Just seven minutes later Ronkswood made it two, drilling a crisp shot home from 12 yards from the right hand edge of the box. The Falcons just couldn't get into their stride for all the hard work from Paul Park and Mark Berry.

After the break it was a case of whoever scores the next goal. Within five minutes that accolade went to the visitors with Henney beaten a third time, although he was blameless again. The Falcons did rally and had their best passage of play in the game as they took control. Man-of-the-match Mike Griffin was in excellent form again down the left flank, but despite some decent crosses his efforts went unrewarded as the visitors goalkeeper was rarely troubled.

There will be the welcome relief of a cup match this Sunday when Anchor entertain Kidderminster division two side Phoenix, kick-off 10.30am. Players meet 9.45am.
