THE end of September sees the drawing to a close of this year's sprint and hillclimb championship contention for John Bradshaw in the Three Counties Building-sponsored Sylvia Striker.
John, a chartered engineer from Colwall, has been contesting this years Redline Midland Speed Championship and the Hillclimb and Sprint Association National Series and was lying second in class until major gearbox problems forced him out of critical rounds.
Thanks to help from his sponsors, John was able to get the car back on the road, but not until after losing critical opportunities for points scoring at Shelsley Walsh and Loton Park.
John said: "The car uses a very sophisticated close ratio straight cut gearbox and repairing it was both time consuming and costly. Without my sponsor I would have been out for the rest of the season."
The Prescott meeting tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, will see John competing in the Road Category for heavily modified sports cars such as Caterhams and Westfields.
The Striker that John competes with is seen as one of the best handling cars in its class.
Tomorrow (Saturday), practice at Prescott starts at 9.30am with the competition starting on Sunday at 10am. Adult admission is £10 on Saturday and £15 on Sunday with free parking.
