THE GOOD LUNCH CLUB: The September function attracted 34 patrons, which almost covered the parlour at the Lifford Hall. The donation which will be sent to Signpost (in Broadway) amounted to £175.

The August tea raised £47 and the organisers reported that the donations sent to local organisations were now over £1,000. The October event will be a tea.

GARDEN CLUB: The August meeting was addressed by Una Dunnett of World of Hostas. She is the holder of the National Collection of Hostas in pots. She is an adviser to the Prince of Wales, who is a national collector of hostas plants. Mrs Dunnett has 672 specimens and 18 leaf shapes in her collection. A few samples were displayed in the course of her lecture. She has exhibited in many shows including the Malvern show.

The next meeting will be on September 26 when part two of Gardens and their History will be continued by David Everitt at the usual time and venue. Competition is for a harvest selection of fruit and/or vegetables.

BUFFET LUNCH: Broadway, Childswickham and Wickhamford Conservative branch's garden buffet lunch was held on a warm day overlooking Fish Hill, when 50 members and friends enjoyed the atmosphere together with the food and drink.

A musical entertainer played throughout and a light political quiz tested the skills of the gathering.
