I WAS so pleased to read Paul Allen's Nature Notes in your September 8 issue, in which he explained the hard work he and his team have put into our local heathlands.
These areas are of regional and national value and it is much to the credit of Paul Allen and the Wyre Forest District Council Ranger Service that they are looked after so well.
It is, however, to the shame of the county council that they are unable to care for the most visible heathland in the area, Hartlebury Common, and have allowed it to become overgrown with scrub and birch.
Come on, Worcestershire County Council, pull your finger out and bring Hartlebury up to the standard of Wyre Forest heathland before it is ruined completely.
