I FEEL compelled to write because I, like many others, am very dismayed by Wyre Forest District Council.
I am taking the Government's advice to try to keep fit and healthy, but the district council are making this more and more difficult
Not only do they sell out the leisure facilities to a private company (where prices have increased considerably), but they charge people to park at these leisure facilities.
At Stourport Leisure Centre people, including me, were able to avoid this charge by parking at the land near to the Swifts football area. However, this is also now subject to charges.
At the Glades, charges apply because people can also shop, as it is near to the town. This does not apply at Stourport so charges are specifically for leisure centre users and are unjustified.
The district council should take a leaf out of Wychavon District Council's book. I n Droitwich parking is free at the leisure centre.
Getting fit should be encouraged and should not be dependent on wealth.
Why not make parking free for leisure facility users only?
