BROMSGROVE will be presented with the prestigious Rugby Football Union Seal of Approval before their Midlands League One game against Luton at Finstall Park on Saturday October 1 (3pm).

The award is a major landmark for the Worcestershire club and recognises the hard work that has gone into the continued development of a community-based rugby club.

The RFU Community Rugby Active Sports Seal of Approval and the Sport England Clubmark accreditation scheme are based upon a three-year award system.

During that time the club is assessed on its ability to provide a safe, effective, child-friendly environment.

A club will qualify in the first year by the completion of the assessment file and the writing of a 12-month youth section development plan.

By implementing the first year development plan and having the second year plan approved, a club will then qualify for Year II status.

The same process in year three will lead to Year III status.

The award is a benchmark test of the quality of provision a club offers, and its commitment to the development of young rugby players.

A club will receive certification to confirm accreditation, both from Community Rugby and Sport England.

The award co-incides with the 30th anniversary of Bromsgrove's mini and junior rugby section.

To mark the presentation of the award and the section's 30th anniversary a game will be played by Bromsgrove's Under 11 team as a curtain-raiser to the league match.

Meanwhile, Ledbury Rugby Club has a southern hemisphere feel about it this season, with the recruitment of three new players -- a Tongan, an Australian and a New Zealander.

Keith McCulloch has arrived from New Zealand, Tukia Foliaki Muli from Tonga and Australian Jack McCarthy.
