MEMBERS took the club boat to Falmouth for a 10-day diving holiday. They dived such wrecks as the Epsilon, Hera, Mohegan, Peterson and Volney, as well as the treacherous Manacle rocks and the Maeir beds of the Fal estuary.
Two lost anchors were recovered, one an old 5ft tall admiralty type, believed to date back more than 100 years.
On the final day the divers launched out of Hayle to the wreck of the St Chamond, which is unusual as besides its main cargo of steel pipes, it was carrying six steam locomotives when torpedoed 1.5 miles off St Ives on April 30, 1918.
Two further UK weekends, and a week in Egypt are planned for later in the year.
Scuba diving courses for anyone from 12 to adult, are available on Sunday afternoons at Stourport Leisure Centre. New members receive free training and loan of equipment. For details telephone John Carmichael on 01562 753637 weekdays until 6pm.
