THE Kidderminster branch's last field meeting of the season was spent at Dudmaston pools and woods.
Members and friends heard thrushes, watched a heron basking in the sunshine at the top of a tree, met an inquisitive swan, watched a family of great tits in the bushes, and families of coots, moorhens and golden eye. In all 27 species were identified during the visit.
At the National Trust's annual Wildlife and Countryside Weekend, at Hanbury Hall, members assisted on the WMBC stand and led bird-watching walks.
The first indoor meeting of the 2005/6 season will be on Wednesday, at 7.30pm in St Oswald's Church Centre, Kidderminster, when Tony Wharton will give an illustrated talk entitled "Faces of Nature".
On Sunday, October 2, a field meeting will visit Belvide reserve, Brewood, meeting in the car park at 10am.
