OPERATION Covert is entering a new phase this week with the publication of a shopping list.
Thanks to the magnificent support of the Wyre Forest community, we are looking to make a start on the new structure in the coming weeks.
Enough money has been raised to get the project moving forward quickly, but we are now hoping other businesses, clubs , societies or individuals can help us with our shopping list.
The inventory of £17,000 worth of fixtures and fittings is designed to enable those who would like to focus on specific items, rather than donate money, to play a part in helping us get the new centre ready for a spring opening next year.
The list ranges from 12 uPVC timber-effect windows costing £200 each, to a disabled toilet package priced at £550 to kitchen equipment costing anything from £250 to £1,200.
Shuttle/Times and News editor, Clive Joyce, explained all the items on the list were included in the appeal's £80,000 target, but said it was hoped this shopping scheme would help to reduce the final amount of money needed for the project as a whole.
"The community has rallied round magnificently to get us to this stage but now we are looking for key items that will be needed once the building work gets underway," he said.
"It is possible that some organisations or individuals would prefer to hold a fund-raising event to buy a specific item of equipment rather than simply donate an amount of money.
"The new activity centre is going to be a modern building that will be a wonderful asset.
"A great deal of thought has gone into safety features and amenities and it will provide the perfect base for all the children who go there."
If you think your company or organisation would like to get involved with the shopping list scheme, just call Becky Parkinson on 01562 633342 or Clive Joyce on 01562 633348 for more information.
