IN reply to Alun Cure and P R Addison, who questioned my loyalty to Britain and suggested that I should go and live somewhere else, I would say their sentiments are more reminiscent of a totalitarian regime than that of a democratic society.

I would not have put pen to paper and proceeded to give my view, if my grasp on history was as tenuous as that of the correspondents.

Perhaps these two correspondents are only familiar with the sanitised version of history, unless of course they are taking liberties with historical facts. Expressing a balanced view of history - warts and all - does not make one anti-British or critical of the British people. I wish for this country to succeed and prosper as much as the next person, but thwarting historical facts to fit one's conceited view is not cricket and neither is doing away with the umpire.
