Bromsgrove Rovers (1) 2 Stourport Swifts (0) 1
ROVERS enjoyed a nervy final half an hour in Tuesday night's Southern League Cup game at the Victoria Ground after Andy Jones was injured.
The game was delayed for 30 minutes in the second half after the Swifts player clashed heads with Rovers' midfielder Mark Benbow.
The Stourport defender swallowed his tongue after the clash at a Swifts corner in the 61st minutes and fell unconscious. Paramedics took him to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.
Before the incident Rovers had controlled the game and strikers Mark Danks and Leon Mitchell scored, before Duncan Willetts pulled a penalty back for Stourport with the last kick of the game.
Rovers were in control from the start and Mitchell headed Kevin Banner's left wing cross wide in the 23rd minute. Two minutes later the striker slotted wide of the right hand post with just 'keeper Craig Ladek to beat.
Ladek then acrobatically tipped Banner's rising shot past the left post.
Danks made the breakthrough from the penalty spot after Tom Colley brought him down in the 37th minute.
Mitchell made it 2-0 five minutes into the second half, when he bundled the ball home after Ladek dropped his shot.
After the half hour delay Rovers suffered nerves and Nathan Jackson shot wide, while Willetts headed Sam Hawker's cross over.
In the game's final minute Rovers 'keeper Tim Clarke brought down John Shirley and Willets grabbed a goal back.
