PUBS, clubs and other businesses can organise their own beauty event to choose a girl for next year's Miss Worcestershire contest.
The selection process is already under way and organiser Paul de Silva is offering a total of 36 licences for sale.
"The idea is that a pub or club or anyone else can buy a license and organise their own contest night," he said. "They can have as many girls as they like taking part. Their winner would then have their name on the sash when they take part in the Miss Worcestershire final."
Mr De Silva, who runs a model and promotions agency in Elm Court, Worcester, said licenses, at £200 each, were still up for grabs and he would meet with the buyers when they had all been taken up.
"Last year was difficult because it was the first contest. We had sponsors to buy the sashes," he said. "This way, it will be opened up to more people and the girls should get more help and support. Their winner could go all the way to the Miss England final."
Anyone who wants to buy a licence can contact him on 01905 355777.
The 36 winners will then take part in the grand final, which was held this year in Malvern and was won by Rachael Davies, who sparked off a row because she came from Stoke-on-Trent.
Mr De Silva is still planning to open up next year's event to girls from outside the area but he is willing to be persuaded otherwise by Worcester News readers.
If you think you can get him to change his mind and keep the contest just for county girls, then you can write to Your Letters, Worcester News, Hylton Road, Worcester WR2 5JX.
