Chairman Betty Long welcomed 60 members and visitors to the September meeting saying how nice it was to see everyone after the summer break.

As usual the minutes of the last meeting were read and the treasurer's report given. Mary Rutter announced that there will be a change to the expected speaker in October, who now will not be able to come and will be replaced by Andy Casserley, who will be talking about Victorian traditional music. Joan English reminded the 25 lucky ladies who are going to see the gardens at Highgrove, home of Prince Charles, of the final arrangements and leaving time from Bromsgrove. There will also be a pre-Christmas outing for lunch and shopping, together with the Christmas lights at Cheltenham.

As the golf centre will be closed from January 9 to February 26 for refurbishment, there will be no meeting during February, but instead there will be a winter lunch at St Andrew's Hotel, Droitwich, on Monday, February 6, followed by a speaker yet to be decided upon.

Paul McGuire, from Malvern, proceeded to entertain the ladies for a whole hour with jokes and a hilarious account of his time as a Redcoat at Butlins holiday camps during the 1960s. He is a superb, very professional comedian whom we hope to see again, and again! The meeting closed at around 9.30pm after coffee had been served.
