BINGO caller Adrian Smith hopes it will be eyes down for success when he takes part in a competition to find the best caller in the Midlands.
Adrian, who is the bingo caller at the Gala Club in Rubery Great Park, has already been chosen as one of the Midlands' six best callers. He will be bidding for the regional title in a clash of the bingo titans to be held at Erdington on September 29.
The 34-year-old has already impressed the judges when he demonstrated his calling skills and his tremendous sense of fun and personality. Now he hopes his intimate knowledge of the business will bring him the Midlands' title on the big day.
"I've been 14 years in bingo, so you could say that it is in my blood. I get a real kick out of calling and I'm really up for the challenge," said Adrian, who has been with the Gala club for seven years.
Darren Glover, his general manager, said: "Adrian always conducts himself in a professional manner and strives to deliver the highest possible standard in customer service. He takes great pride in his work and our customers are really willing him to win."
The Rubery caller will be up against opponents from Acock's Green, Kidderminster, Gloucester, Scunthorpe and Norwich in the regional final.
The winner will go on to compete against callers from all over the country in the national final, which will be held in London in November.
At stake will be the 'Golden Microphone' trophy, a £500 cash prize plus a trip for two to Los Angeles and the chance to call a bingo game in a Vegas casino.
