CONDEMNED changing rooms in Wychbold will undergo essential repairs and improvement work.
At last week's Wychavon executive board meeting members agreed that more than £21,000 should be allocated to Dodderhill Parish Council in conjunction with the Village Hall committee for the work to the changing rooms at the village hall. Due to health and safety issues the parish council and the Village Hall Committee needed to carry out vital repairs. Building, plumbing and electrical work all needs to be done to get the changing rooms up and running. At the same time they want to replace the existing boarded up windows and redecorate.
These works will allow the changing rooms to be reopened and for the users of the adjacent football pitches situated on the playing field to have the facilities needed for matches. Work will include the removal and replacement of the existing damaged and rotted ceilings, electric work including removing the existing condemned switches. Systems will also be installed for showers while lighting and decoration work will take place too.
The money for the work has come from section 106 contributions. Wychavon currently holds more than £55,000 in its general reserve from the development built by David Wilson Homes at Church Lane in Wychbold. This sum, under the terms of the agreement, needs to be spent on the improvement of the public open space in the Wychbold parish.
