AN ANGRY Worcester resident has hit out at police, claiming they have failed to respond to crime on his estate.

Twenty-seven-year-old Adam Job, of Hawthorn Road, Tolladine, Worcester, claimed crime in the area had hit a peak recently, yet police were not acting on it.

The factory worker has been the victim of car crime for the past year - having had tyres slashed, wing mirrors broken and thieves attempting to break into his vehicle. The final straw came at the weekend, when he had his window smashed, with the culprits leaving fingerprints across the bonnet.

When he called police he said he was told unless he knew who had done it, it was not worth them coming out.

Two days later, an officer spoke with him, but by that time the fingerprints were washed away.

Warehouse worker Mr Job said the

area was also plagued by drug dealers, people drinking in the streets and youths racing around on motorbikes terrorising neighbours.

He added: "It's becoming a lawless society and the police just don't seem to care - it's really distressing. We'd arranged to meet the local police officer through Worcester Community Housing two months ago and still nothing's happened.

Ward councillor Paul Denham said he had a steady flow of residents complaining to him of not seeing enough police

on patrol.

He added: "Certainly, there's a widespread view the police appear to not be out and about much at the moment - that might not be well-founded, but it's the perception the public have."

A Worcester police spokesman said they received two complaints from Mr Job and, as the most frequent incident was affected by rainfall, it was considered unnecessary for scenes-of-crime officers to attend.

He said police were unaware of arrangements made for a community support officer or beat manager to meet Mr Job.

"In line with all other areas of Worcester City, Tolladine is regularly policed - although Mr Job has not seen them, they have been there.

"We're naturally disappointed Mr Job is dissatisfied in his perception of our attendance and level of service and we'll discuss his concerns with him."

Anyone who saw anyone behaving suspiciously around Mr Job's address in the early hours of Sunday, September 11, is asked to call police on 08457 444 888, quoting 6S/110905.
