I HAVE just watched the BBC Midland News programme praising the council's wonderful plan to give the citizens of Worcester "free travel" on the buses. Only some lucky citizens.
The Express Buses cover one area of the city only. There's nothing for London Road, Bath Road, Battenhall, St Peter's, St John's, Dines Green and so on. Hardly all citizens.
To add insult to injury, following the free two weeks' experiment, OAPs and "children" under the age of 19 will continue to travel free on these Express Buses. Is this fair to the rest of us? Can the council tell us when the scheme is to be extended to the rest of the city? If not, until the other park-and-ride schemes are in place, it will be a long wait.
Only those car owners who live in the designated Express areas will perhaps leave their cars at home while the rest of us continue to pay the bus fares as usual, or clog up our city roads with our cars.
